Minerva Airbag Systems

During a bike tour around Erding in the spring of 2017, Andi, Michael and Mike came up with the idea of why there wasn't yet an airbag for cyclists. All three of them had been working with airbags for many years, so they immediately came up with a number of ideas on how a bicycle airbag should ideally work. As Mike, a specialist in occupational safety, was also in the saddle on the weekly bike rides, it quickly became clear that there was also a very high demand for protective equipment in this area, including for tradespeople. This gave birth to MINERVA's vision of making work and cycling, the best hobby in the world, safer. With the company name MINERVA, the young start-up was named after the patron goddess of craftsmen.

The most important premise for MINERVA right from the start was that the airbags, equipped with intelligent sensors, should deploy automatically in the event of an unintentional fall. Full of energy and enthusiasm, the MINERVA team launched the world's first new safety vest, the Opus, on the market in 2020 after just three years of development, which has since protected thousands of tradespeople from serious injuries every day.

At the same time, the team collected data on its countless bike tours in order to further refine the trigger sensor technology for the bicycle airbag. The result is the world's first sensor-controlled bicycle airbag backpacks, which Minerva is launching on the market under the MASE backpack brand and with selected renowned backpack manufacturers.

Like all Minerva Airbag Systems products, the first AIRDING backpack model stands for top quality made in Germany. In our development and production facilities, we would like to toast our first bicycle airbag line with you, naturally with an Erdinger Weissbier.
